The theme for the 2022 OMEP Ireland Early Childhood Annual Conference is Repositioning the Child in Early Childhood Education and Care. The OMEP Ireland 2022 conference, takes place in the Trinity Long Room Hub, Trinity College Dublin, on the 5th of November 2022, 11 am – 3pm.

Keynote Speaker: Professor Kay Tisdall
Presentation Title: “Transformation? The potential of children’s human rights in early childhood education and care”
Kay Tisdall is Professor of Childhood Policy at the University of Edinburgh. She is part of the Childhood and Youth Studies at Moray House School of Education and Sport. She undertakes collaborative research with children, young people and adults on such as areas as children affected by domestic abuse, family law, inclusive pedagogy for young children, young people’s mental health, and children’s participation and activism. She is involved in a number of partnership projects, with teams in such countries as Brazil, Canada, Eswatini, India, Palestine, South Africa – and Ireland.

Presentation Title: It’s not all about the Future! Building brains and bodies in ECEC
Nóirín Hayes is Visiting Professor at the School of Education, Trinity College Dublin. Working within a bio-ecological framework of development and through a child rights lens she teaches, researches and writes on early childhood pedagogy, practice and policy.
